The Engineering Department coordinates activities and assists in the smooth implementation of the overall functions of the following:

Engineering Department Responsibilities and Objectives:

  • Review, monitor, and direct consultants working on City projects so that the final product meets the required agencies or special City project’s purpose.

  • Provide the most cost effective funding methods to design and construct Public Works infrastructure projects.

  • Evaluate, analyze, and develop Public Works projects to replace deficient, deteriorated, or undersized infrastructure and provide new infrastructure to accommodate future growth in accordance with comprehensive plans.

  • Investigate and respond to citizen, merchant, and property owner complaints and provide information for requests from the City Council, Mayor, Departments, citizens, local and state agencies, contractors, consultants, and developers.

  • Prepare cost estimates in conjunction with available funding for the City’s Annual Budget for Public Works capital improvement projects within the Capital Facilities Plan.

  •  Oversee private development so that the completed projects are in conformance to City ordinances, guidelines, specifications, and policies.
